ABOUT US

Since its inception in early 2009, a core group of committed private citizens, veteran’s and community service organization representatives have regularly met to plan how best to serve the military families living in our midst.  Working with our non-profit corporate sponsor, Family Service Rochester, and our community support partner, Rochester Community and Technical College, Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Southeast Minnesota has committed to meeting the following 5 service goals:

• Create meeting and service support opportunities for Servicemembers and their families before, during and after deployments.
• Host recreational and social events for families and military spouses and partners.
• Educate communities on the stresses and challenges faced by military families.
• Provide services military family members may need; from day care to snow removal to household repairs to counseling.
• Link families to military-friendly business services and volunteer services.

Beyond The Yellow Ribbon Southeast Minnesota is pleased to announce the addition of Lucille Schweyen as our Part-Time Military Family Support Coordinator.

Lucille will be available on a part-time basis to assist Military families find information or direct assistance in a wide variety of areas. She will be able to connect Military Families with the right support agency to solve a problem, or provide self-help information.

Lucille has been with Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Southeast Minnesota since July, 2010, working as an AmeriCorps LEAP program service member directly assigned to our organization. In this capacity, she has learned much about Military family support systems and organizations, at Federal, State and local levels. This includes many government agencies; but also includes dozens of non-profit and local community service organizations. Her knowledge will help Military families learn about and connect with support organizations that can help them in a wide variety of areas.

The Military Family Assistance Coordinator will provide assistance to Military families who have registered on the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Southeast Minnesota website, at http://www.beyondtheyellowribbonsemn.com/members/, and who live in the Southeast Minnesota area.
